Fera Pets Hip + Joint Supplement Review

By Fido's Bowl December 17, 2025

If you’re looking for a joint supplement for a large dog, the real questions aren’t marketing claims — they’re ingredients, dosing, long-term cost, and whether it’s actually worth sticking with.

We’ve used Fera Pets Hip + Joint with our Labradors long-term. It isn’t the cheapest option on the shelf, especially for large dogs, but it’s one of the few joint supplements we continue to use because it includes everything we personally look for in a single product.

Quick Verdict

Best for:
• Large breed dogs
• Active or aging dogs
• Owners looking for a comprehensive joint formula

Not ideal for:
• Budget-focused households
• Owners looking for a single-ingredient supplement

Form: Soft chew

Bottom Line: High-quality, well-rounded joint supplement with a higher daily cost for large dogs.

You can check the current pricing and serving recommendations directly on the Fera Pets website.

What This Supplement Is Meant to Do

Fera Pets Hip + Joint is designed to support normal joint function and mobility as part of a long-term wellness routine. This is not a “quick fix” supplement — it’s intended for consistent, daily use alongside proper nutrition, weight management, and activity.

What makes this product appealing is that it’s built as a complete joint formula, rather than a single-ingredient add-on.

Ingredients That Matter (And Why We Like Them)

This supplement includes the three core joint ingredients we specifically look for:

  • Glucosamine – Supports joint structure and cartilage
  • Chondroitin – Helps support joint cushioning and flexibility
  • MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) – Commonly included to support joint comfort

On top of that, Fera Pets includes:

  • Green-lipped mussel – A natural ingredient often used in joint formulas
  • Turmeric – Added as a botanical ingredient commonly used for joint support

The ingredient list is clearly labeled, without proprietary blends, which makes it easier to understand exactly what you’re giving your dog.

One reason we stick with this product is simple: it includes everything we want in a joint supplement, so we don’t feel the need to stack multiple products.

How This Fits Into a Long-Term Joint Support Plan

This supplement works best when used consistently over time, especially for:

  • Large breeds prone to joint wear
  • Active dogs
  • Dogs entering their senior years

It’s not meant to replace good nutrition or lifestyle choices. Instead, it’s a tool that supports joint health as part of a bigger picture that includes balanced feeding and maintaining a healthy weight

Feeding & Dosing Reality (Important)

For large dogs like Labradors (70 pounds), the recommended serving is three soft chews per day.

This matters for two reasons:

  1. Dosing is realistic and easy to follow
  2. Cost adds up over time

The chews are easy to give and well-accepted, but owners of large dogs should factor in the long-term cost before committing.

For us, this is the biggest downside of the product — not quality, but price at higher daily doses.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Includes glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM in one formula
  • Added green-lipped mussel and turmeric
  • Soft chews are easy to give
  • Made in the USA
  • Manufactured in GMP-certified facilities
  • NASC quality seal
  • Brand transparency and consistency

Cons

  • Higher price point
  • Large dogs require multiple chews daily
  • Long-term cost may not fit every budget

Who This Supplement Makes Sense For

  • Owners of large breed dogs
  • Dogs with active lifestyles
  • Owners who want a single, comprehensive joint supplement
  • Those who value U.S. manufacturing standards and third-party quality seals

Our Take at Fido’s Bowl

We’re supporters of the Fera Pets brand overall, and this joint supplement reflects why. It’s thoughtfully formulated, clearly labeled, and includes everything we personally want in a hip and joint product.

Yes, it’s more expensive — especially for large dogs needing three chews per day. But despite that, it’s still the joint supplement we choose for our Labs because it’s comprehensive, easy to use, and made by a brand we trust.
